Open recall check

Active manufacturer safety actions. In one query.

Every year, manufacturers quietly recall cars for safety issues — brakes, airbags, fuel lines, assisted-driving software. The work is usually free. Many owners never bring the car in. Vintor checks whether the plate you are about to buy still has outstanding factory work waiting.

What you'll see on the result page

A clear list, sorted by severity.

  • Each open recall, with the manufacturer description of what the issue is.
  • The severity band — safety-critical items flagged first, advisory campaigns below.
  • A clear signal if no recalls are currently open for this plate, so you can move on with confidence.

Why recalls matter when the car feels fine

Recalls are issued because a pattern of failures was found across many cars of the same model. An individual car can feel perfectly normal and still be affected. The fix is almost always free and takes the dealer an hour or two — but only if you know to ask for it before you take delivery.

Three ways the check changes how you negotiate

  • You can ask the seller to have the recall work completed before the sale, at their dealer, on their time.
  • You know what to tell the insurer — some categories affect cover until the work is done.
  • You arrive at the viewing informed. The seller does not get to say "this model had no problems".

What we won't pretend to check

We surface recalls that the manufacturer has officially issued and registered with the relevant authority. We do not see internal technical service bulletins, informal workshop advice, or recalls that have not been formally filed yet. Our check is as up to date as the source — and the source is the official record, not the rumour mill.

Common questions

Is the recall work free?
In nearly all cases, yes. Safety recalls are paid for by the manufacturer. The dealer books the car in, completes the work, and returns it.
What if the recall has already been done?
It will not appear as open on your result page. Completed recalls are closed in the manufacturer record.
Does this check work on imported cars?
For cars registered in the Netherlands, yes. For a car still carrying foreign plates, recall status is held in the country of origin.
How often is the data refreshed?
Manufacturer recall data is refreshed from the official source regularly. A fresh plate check pulls the current state at the moment you run it.
